The Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture is the sole agricultural and Horticultural Institution in the Seychelles.
The Institute is located at Anse a La Mouche, Mahe and was established 1998 by then Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources. It has a land area of more than 6 hectares. The Institute consists two main sections, administrative section and the farm section.
The farm section consists of three main units:
- Ornamental Horticultural unit
- Vegetable unit
- Livestock Unit
The Institute is mandated to provide knowledge, skills and positive attitudes to pre-service learners who have completed S5 and are willing to take up a career in the field of Agriculture, in order to become competent innovative Agricultural, horticultural and landscaping workers.
The Institute also continues to discharge its second mandate, which is to provide training to the farming community, private, governmental, parastatal organisations and the general public through refresher or tailor-made short courses.
